Sliding Patio Doors Provide Better Home Access
Sliding patio doors are a necessity when planning the entry from the outdoor patio or garden into the home. Sliding doors offer several advantages over traditional hinged doors, one example is they have a large screen to cover the opening to allow better air flow in the home as well as provide easier access in and out.
They make the room seem larger and lighter than a traditional door with small window. Instead of leaving the windows in sliding patio doors open, leaving the room looking like a fish bowl from the outside, vertical blinds or sliding curtains are often used. For added warmth and ease of use vertical blinds are often used.
When you are going on vacation it is important to be protected from intruders that the sliding patio doors are properly locked. Many mistakenly believe that the door lock is all the protection they need. By inserting a stick, dowel or rod in the track you can hinder any outsiders from entering your home.
Finding the Right Door for Your Home
Sliding patio doors have various door frames available in several colors and styles that will can be matched to most any home. The door jamb and frame can add that finishing touch to your patio doors which will make them blend seemless into your home.
Probably the hardest part of having sliding patio doors is keeping the glass clean, especially with small children. Romoving the streaks and fingerprints is easily done with one of the many good glass cleaners on the market today. On bright sunny days the sun will expose streaks, dirt and fingerprints that your cleaning may have missed. Installing a patio door with blinds may help this situation.
Be sure to run a vacuum cleaner hose inside the bottom track at least weekly to keep the track free of dirt and debris and the sliding patio doors sliding easily. Applying some oil every couple of weeks will also keep the slides and rollers moving easily, but always vacuum out the track before oiling to keep the dirt from clumping into a ball, effectively stopping the door from sliding.
