5 Traits to Evaluate Before Buying Tall Floor Vases
If you are planning to get a tall floor vase for your home you have to study the matter carefully before making your choice. This is a business that you should get right the first time around. That is because this type of décor can cost and eat up space in your storage. Making the wrong choice the first time makes you lose money on something that you cannot or will not display in your room. You could even end up having the room repainted or refurnished to conform to the design and color of an expensive vase. Either way you lose. Consider 5 important details of the vase before making your choice.
The shape of the tall floor vase
Vases come in a wide variety of shapes. Standard vases have a base, a body, a neck, a mouth or lip and occasionally one or more handles. Of these parts pay particular attention to the base and the body. The body is mostly oval in shape. The width of the body varies with different styles of vases. A wide body creates the illusion of width and a narrow body creates an illusion of height. How suitable the tall floor vase is for the room depends a great deal on the dimensions of the body. Vases with wide bases are more stable than those with narrow ones. Tall and narrow vases can be a hazard to health if not secured in place.
The material the vase is made of
Tall floor vases can be made of metal, earthenware clay, stoneware clay, porcelain, glass, crystal, acrylic or plant materials. The weight and durability of one material is different from the next. Those two characteristics affect the stability of tall floor vases as well as their resistance to breakage. In the same way, some materials can hold water and others just let liquids seep through. In other words, fresh floral arrangements are not possible with all vase materials. Metal conducts heat very efficiently and may not be appropriate for warm rooms.
The aesthetic quality of tall floor vases – images, colors, textures
Just as important as the shape and material of the vase are the aesthetics that went into its making. You will have to consider the images and patterns seen on the vase. Do they complement or conflict with the design of your room? Remember that you will probably have to live with the vase for a long time. So it should promote an amiable ambience in the room. Then you need to consider whether the color and texture is appropriate for the kind of feeling you want to create. Try as much as possible to come up with a congenial color combination.
Selecting the correct tall floor vases for you is not hard to do if you know the shape, the vase material and the aesthetic appeal you are looking for. You can avoid wasting good money by making the right vase decisions.
The best way to learn about floor vases that you can actually put to use is to know their characteristics, the latest style trends and the best vase materials. Also look for important tips about evaluating vases from authoritative sources like our website about tall floor vases

Frequently Asked Questions...
Lighted platform for display of pottery?
I bought a beautiful pottery vase, but it's displayed in a place that is only lit from above, and you can't see the beautiful patterns on the bottom half of the vase. Any suggestions for how to light this from underneath?
Answer:
The simple answer is a glass shelf replacing the wood shelf and lay small halogen disk lights facing up on the next shelf down. This lights are sold to mount under cabinets - disks about 3" across.
More complicated is to build a shelf that includes light sources. These can be disk lights as mentioned above inset into a wood shelf or if the pot is really big, just laid on the shelf.
Or puck lights like these see options newly available like white LED.

Even more complicated, but interesting, is to build a thick shelf that will hold a pair of fluorescent tubes. By putting a glass upper surface then covering that with masonite or cardboard with holes in it to release the lighting.
